The truth. It's what Northern San Diego county homeowners want concerning later-in-life housing and other issues impacting older adults such as reverse mortgages, 55+ senior living options, selling a house in today's market, or how it is possible to "stay put" in your own home as you "age-in-place".

These topics, along with many others, will be presented in the upcoming 90-minute monthly educational seminars, beginning later in 2023. Adults over the age of 55 and caregivers are invited to attend the free Empowered Next Chapter "Living Truth Series" to learn the actual facts about issues related to home ownership, downsizing and aging-in-place in the San Diego area.

This series of candid conversations and expert panel discussions about the unique and often complex issues facing long-time homeowners is to be moderated by Elizabeth Houghton, considered a leading authority on issues related to seniors. Elizabeth has made it her mission to educate and guide both consumers and professionals on best practices related to later in life living.

"Seniors and their families are concerned that the cost of housing, as well as living in a senior living community, has increased substantially and information about how to pay for housing in this day and age is of particular interest."

Many older adults have no idea what is available to them, how much it will cost, or the process for making all the pieces fit together. We want to provide helpful information, introduce them to trusted local resources and answer their questions. Beyond helping with immediate needs, our intention is to give individuals and families both the direction and confidence so they feel empowered when the time comes to make a major life decision."

"I feel strongly it's important to have a plan even if you put it in a drawer until you need it. That way you get to make your own decisions about your life going forward. Sadly, too many people wait until some life event happens and then someone else may have to decide for them. We want to avoid this happening whenever possible".

The Empowered Next Chapter Living Truth series debuts with "The Truth About Preparing Your Home for "staying put". More topics will be introduced as the series gets underway.

"People are tired of being "sold" something only to discover later that there were either strings attached, or they didn't get all the facts," Houghton states. "They don't want a sales pitch. They want truthful information from people they can trust, so they can consider all their options. And that's exactly what we're sharing in this series of educational expert seminars."

There is no cost to attend for those 55 or older. Registration for professionals is $25.00.  Space is limited and pre-registration is required.
